Click here to go to my studio EP, 'The Right Time'.

I am currently a member of several bands:

Policy Briefs (www.policybriefs.com)

This is a jazz/rock/funk/general filth band formed in 2003. Since then we have played at venues on the South Coast such as Southampton's Talking Heads on several occasions, jazz club La Reveillon in Normandy, France, in Holland, and most recently at internationally renowned jazz festival Jazz à Vienne (www.jazzavienne.com) alongside the likes of basically everyone cool. We recorded our first studio EP 'The Posthumous EP' in 2004. See www.policybriefs.com for a full bio, photos, audio and video clips, online shop and all kinds of fun.

Groovestone (www.groovestone.net)

Formerly known as The Neeeds, groovestone are one of the best function/party bands around, and are available for any event in neeed of some quality music. The band consists of drums, bass, keyboards, guitar, tenor sax, trumpet and vocals and delivers a massive, outrageously funky sound!

Repertoire includes soul classics from the 60s/70s such as R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Stevie Wonder tunes like Sir Duke and I Wish, plus more recent hits including Jamiroquai's Little L and our own twist on Britney's Toxic.

For booking details, please see www.groovestone.net, or email info@groovestone.net. A demo is available in mp3 format on the website, and is also available FREE on CD on request.

The Joe Browne Quintet

JBQ play mainly jazz standards, for functions/weddings etc. Lineup comprises Tenor/soprano sax, keys, guitar, bass and drums. A demo will be online soon - rest assured, we aren't bad.

For booking information please contact sam@sammysmith.co.uk. Prices are amazingly reasonable for such a high quality band!

Dear Gregory,

Formed in October 2004, Dear Gregory are essentially a contemporary jazz group (with a more than a hint of rock). The band was an official 'ensemble' for our final year of BA music at Southampton University, and we were the first ensemble ever to score 100% in our final recital. We have so far only played covers (including tunes by Acoustic Ladyland, Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Chris Potter and John Scofield), but plan to start concentrating on new material. Gigs in the pipeline.

Sam Smith - The Right Time

I wrote and produced this EP as part of my degree. It doesn't feature me playing the drums - all the beats are either programmed or sampled. As I'm a nice chap, I have put the entire thing online in mp3 format for you to download. Feel free to burn it all on to CD.

I have now moved the mp3s over to the audio page!
